Sharon, Ramat, Israel

People in Israel are compelled to serve in the army for three years, including women. Sharon, who is against war, felt that it was too long a period of her life, years important for her formation.

Sharon is 23 years old and lives in Ramat HaSharon, Israel. She is a rebel and has a beauty that she sometimes distorts with very original makeup. She took a makeup course for special effects, but her strongest passion is painting and digital art, which she studied in high school. She aims at a career in concept art and animation or video games. Her passion for art is very strong and led her to defy established rules in society. Israeli citizens are compelled to serve in the army for three years, including women. Sharon, who is against war, felt that it was too long a period of her life, years important for her formation. She managed to avoid prison, being deemed in some way unfit to serve in the army.

She supports her practice in art by working three days per week in a bakery, and at times she does makeup jobs. Her favorite time of the year is “Purim,” which is like Halloween, where she gets very creative on people’s faces and bodies. She plans to leave the country next year if she is accepted to a good university. Her dream is to go to Canada. Her boyfriend of 6 years, to whom she is very attached, would leave with her. They agree that they want to remain together always.
